Friends and family are welcome to join the Akuutet Learning Nursery interns at Temescal Gateway Park as we spend a smooth Saturday soaking up the lush scenery. With the recent rains, waterfall sightings are highly likely. Transportation is provided from Elyria Canyon.

About the Event

Friends, family, and loved ones from the Akuutet Learning Nursery internship are welcome on an outdoor recreational field trip to Temescal Canyon Gateway Park.

Schedule for the day

8:30am - 9:00am: Introduction / Opening Circle / Breath of Life

9:00am - Bus Departs from Elyria Canyon Parking Lot**

10:15am - 10:30am: Arrive at Temescal Gateway Park (traffic pending)

10:30am - 10:45am: Introduction/ Grounding Activity at Rubell Circle Amphitheater

10:45am - 12:30pm: Interpretive Hike on Temescal Waterfall Trail (2miles)

12:30pm - 1:00pm: Lunch/Volleyball at Rubell Circle

1:00pm - 1:45pm: Nature Journaling and Reflection

1:45pm - 2:00pm: Closing circle

2:00pm: Bus departs Temescal Gateway Park

3:30pm Bus Arrives back to Elyria Canyon Parking Lot**

Temescal Waterfall Trail Hike is an Out-and-Back trail, which means it follows a single trail to an end point and then returns along the same route. It consists of 2 miles with a 346ft elevation with ocean views and little to no shade. Please wear comfortable close-toed shoes for walking. Please note: strollers may be difficult to navigate on the narrow and bumpy trail.

COVID POLICY: Masks are required at all times while indoors or on the bus. Masks are encouraged at all times during the program. What to bring: plenty of water, packed lunch/ snacks, your journal, a pen, your phone with the inaturalist app, signed permission slips. What to wear: comfortable shoes for walking, dress in layers, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, long sleeves, long pants).
