It’s been a difficult start to the new year. The LA Wildfires displaced and impacted many families in the Palisades and Altadena areas and affected communities across Los Angeles. Every Angeleno was touched by this disaster in some way. Whether you are seeking support with recovery, avenues to lend a hand by volunteering or donating, or educational resources to learn and unlearn how to be a part of a fire resilient community, we hope to be able to offer something through the resources we’ve compiled to share below.
Through our continued work on wildfire resilience education, CNC seeks to build community knowledge with our public and youth outdoor programs. We remain committed to facilitating and co-creating experiences where the communities we work with understand the role of wildfire in nature, neighborhood wildfire preparedness, and indigenous perspectives and practices around wildfire.
CNC’s wildfire work advances our mission—which is to increase access to the outdoors for communities impacted by racial, socio-economic, and disability injustices by eliminating existing barriers—by increasing an understanding of our environments and their histories. In doing so, we as a collective can freely enjoy these nature spaces without fear of persecution and improve our climate resiliency response.
